Indian summer pumpkin soup

Fall is definitely here, its getting colder, the leaves turn into beautiful colors and the sun isn't shining as long as it used to. The perfect moment to prepare some fab pumpkin soup ;). One of my best friends made me this recipe a few years ago and since then I am completely crazy about it.

All you need:
1 small pumpkin
1ltr. of veggie stock
1 tin of tomato puree
sour cream up to your liking
1 onion
feta
mint leaves

Mince the pumpkin and onion and heat it together with the tomato puree. After 5 minutes add the stock and leave it boil for 30 minutes. Add the sour cream and mash everything into an actual soup.
Add some mint leaves and feta in a bowl, and pour the soup over, easy as that ;).

Collecting memories

The last week I travelled around in Africa, it was such an amazing, mind blowing experience. When I am traveling I always wish that I can hold on to certain moments forever, unfortunately I can't. But the next best thing is to try to gather as much items to remind you on fantastic moments, put them in a scrapbook and whenever you feel like it, relive the moment.
I always take literally everything, from maps to straws and from leaves to precious souvenirs. Next to that I always take my camera with me and try to keep a travel journal.

Interior Inspiration

A few months ago I blogged on jewelry designer Pamela Love's hippy wedding. Now I found great inspiration in her interior on theselby.com .
Her New York house includes everything that I think a house should include, a great lot of memories. In the form of photographs, souvenirs, little ornaments and a massive stashes of books!
Books really give warmth to a house, even when I was a little girl I always knew I wanted a large library when I was older, now at 23 I am still collecting.

Traveling

Wow how beautiful is this planet? I am traveling around Africa and having an amazing time. There are so many things about traveling, like meeting great people, seeing the beauty of nature and discovering cultures that I never experienced before.
More updates will follow on Hippy in High Heels, for now I will just enjoy my last days here in Africa, make a awful lot of pictures and secretly jump on my hotel bed ;).

Travels: Packing those bags !

Wow! Tomorrow I am off to Nairobi and Johannesburg and I am super super excited :)! But first some preparations must be made… I always make lists before I go to help me remember what to pack.

When it comes to packing clothes, here are some valuable tips that help me every time:

1. Check the temperature and weather forecast at your destination.
2. Make outfits and lay them on your bed in this way you can have a chopper view
3. Do you really need 5 different hair products, 15 pairs of shoes, and about 20 tops?
4. Pack per day and occasion.
5. Make the list, and every time something pops into your head, note it down!!
6. Always first pack the basics; The little black dress, black and white tops, black pumps etc.
7. Gather accessories that go with different looks.
8. Don't forget to pack a travel notebook ;)
9. Keep liquids like shampoo, face wash and shower gel separated from you clothes, or cover them.
10. Keep a bit of space in your suitcase when you go on a shopping trip!!!
